Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child have their first exam?

We recommend a comprehensive exam by age 3, or sooner if you notice any eye turning, rubbing, or visual issues.

Can you check vision if my child can't read?

Yes! We use pictures, shapes, and specialized lights (retinoscopy) to accurately measure vision and prescription without the child needing to speak.

Will my child outgrow squint?

True strabismus rarely resolves on its own and requires treatment (glasses, patching, or surgery) to prevent permanent vision loss in that eye.

Are dilation drops necessary?

Yes, they are crucial for children to relax their strong focusing muscles and get an accurate prescription, as well as to check retinal health.
